Studio Policy

Tuition
Tuition is due before the first lesson of each semester (August, January, June). A $20 late fee will be charged after a payment is 15 days late.
These rates will be prorated if a student registers during the semester.
For the fall and spring semesters, there will be 15 lessons, 4 group classes, and one parent-teacher conference.
For the summer session, there will be six lessons.
Registration fee
A non-refundable, yearly registration fee of $65 will be charged to reserve your child's spot and cover recital fees. This also includes a technology fee for software and programs used throughout the year.
Responsibilities
Student: The student is required to practice and complete all weekly assignments (playing, written, listening) between lessons. Practice time as well as practice goals should be logged daily-- this is how we improve!

Parent: The parent should encourage regular and structured practice at home and take an active role in the student's music education. If questions arise during practice sessions, contact the teacher (I'm here to help!). The amount of energy and the value you put into piano lessons will directly reflect the student's interest and motivation.

Teacher: I will structure weekly lessons based on long-term goals and curriculum. These lessons will include a variety of engaging activities that are based on the student's needs and interests. I will help the student learn how to use their practice time effectively and how to learn new pieces on their own through developing problem-solving skills and goal-setting abilities, fostering musical independence.
Attendance
Attendance at weekly lessons and scheduled group classes is required. Rescheduled lessons will be done only through a swap list. This is a contact sheet and schedule of those who are willing to swap lesson times when conflicts arise. Only those on the swap list may utilize it.
A calendar of holidays and group class schedules will be provided at the beginning of each semester.

Students should arrive to lessons and be picked up on time. If the student is dropped off early, he/she should remain seated in the waiting area as not to disturb an ongoing lesson.
Music Purchases
A $35 book fee will be charged at the beginning of each school year. Any left over funds will be added to the next year.Â
This ensures that your students will have the correct books when they need them.
Scheduling
The yearly schedule will be made before each fall semester. Parents will be asked to supply three preferred times from which the teacher will choose one. Once the schedule is set, it will not be changed until the following year. Students who register during the spring semester will choose from available times and will pay a reduced registration fee.

Students who enroll in summer lessons will receive preferential scheduling for the upcoming school year.
At-Home Instrument
Regular access to a piano in proper working condition is essential. All acoustic instruments must be tuned and maintained. Digital instruments are acceptable if there are 88 weighted keys and a sustain pedal.
Practice Requirements
Establishing good practice habits from the beginning will ensure success in piano lessons. With that in mind, beginning students are required to practice 30 minutes a day/5 days a week. As the level of the student increases, the practice requirements will increase.

Students will also be assigned weekly video assignments to submit for the teacher to track progress in between the lessons.
Competitions
Although not required, competitions and festivals are highly encouraged. They provide easy to navigate goals for the students throughout the year. These also provide opportunities for collaboration with peers and for feedback from other professionals in the field.
Recitals
Recitals are an important way to show our progress to our loved ones. There will be at least 2 recitals each year - one in December and one in May.
Discontinuation of Lessons
If a student discontinue lessons, 30 day advance notice must be given. If notice is given, the remainder of the semester will be prorated and refunded. If there is no notice, the next 30 days will remain as if the student was enrolled, and the remainder of the semester after that will be prorated and refunded.
